The Problem: Tough Working Conditions
Night work presents a challenge for any contractor. When that work is being performed far from supplied power, you need portable and heavy-duty light sources to get the job done safely and on time.
Recently a customer working on a jetty along the New England shoreline ran into an issue where they needed a long lasting lighting supply that could illuminate the work area without sacrificing valuable maneuvering room. Even more pressing, the customer needed a solution for same day operation.
The Solution: Portable Light & Power in One Machine
The customer sat down with our knowledgeable staff at The Pro Group and got to the drawing board. The Pro Group needed to create an innovative, self-contained lighting solution. This would require both lighting and a portable generator.
The Pro Group provided the customer with a Wacker G2.5 2,500-watt gas generator to power the lights, due to the structure being lightweight and portable. This generator is compact enough to be tucked out of the way to maximize cramped workspaces, yet – like all Wacker construction equipment – rugged enough to stand up to corrosive salt air, sea spray, and forbidding terrain. Its top-of-the-line ground fault interrupter ensures safety in wet conditions.
The experts then provided the customer with CEP’s metal halide lights, which are extremely strong and compact which was needed in the tough conditions, as well as powerful bulbs that can last up to 10,000 hours.
Once the equipment was chosen, the real challenge was deciding how and where to place the lights to provide sufficient illumination. In just hours, our team designed and fabricated a frame that mounted three LED light stands directly onto a gas powered generator. The Wacker equipment powered the CEP lights for hours, and enabled the customer to complete the job safely and without downtime.
